In modern Geographic Information Systems (GIS) times, Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) surely covers an important role. Especially in the last ten years, having as milestone Haiti’s Earthquake in 2010, OpenStreetMap and crowdsourcing made the difference in supporting rescuers in natural disasters and humanitarian catastrophes. United Nations decided to follow this approach with topographic mapping for UN Peacekeeping Missions, letting every volunteer in the world to bring her/his help to serve humanity and support peace in many African countries.
